The Story Behind Tyler White
As a Managing Partner at Clear Water Capital, Tyler White knows that it’s difficult for many people to start the conversation about financial assets and wealth management because it is very personal – and almost taboo – topic. He relishes the opportunity to establish trust with clients and build a long-term relationship with them. “I’m passionate about the subject of finances and realized that I can help people at the same time,” he says. “I love how those things connected at Clear Water.”
The path to Clear Water Capital was a bit circuitous for Tyler, who originally studied pre-med courses as a biology major at Hampden-Sydney College, where he also played football for four years. During his college years, he worked at a local credit union and joined that company as a member service rep after graduation. He then went into the facilities management field and, while living in Berryville, Va., managed the custodial staff for the Clarke County school system.
After meeting Nick Chavis through some college friends, Tyler seized the chance to move to Richmond and launch a business in financial advising. “Our clients can literally ask us anything related to their financial profile and they value our perspective,” he says. “We’re with them in good times and in the not-so-good times. They’re like family to us.”
Tyler’s off-hours are typically spent with his wife, baby daughter and two dogs, he enjoys doing something outdoors, including golf, hunting and fishing at Smith Mountain Lake. A fun destination every year is Bike Week at Myrtle Beach because his father is a motorcycle enthusiast and the family traditionally stays at a local campground.
